Piracy Detected?
FolderEnhancer is not free software, and there is no 'trial' version. If you have FolderEnhancer installed but have not paid for it, you are pirating it.
A lot of time and effort has gone into and continues to go into the development and support of FolderEnhancer. Yet this software has been pirated by several tens of thousands of people, and more than half of the support requests received are from pirates. Yes, that hurts. =(
The "Piracy Detected" message is a part of FolderEnhancer's anti-piracy measures. After you receive this message, your device will be placed into MobileSubstrate's "Safe Mode" where you can safely uninstall the pirated package via Cydia and, if you choose to, purchase the official package from the Cydia Store. Remember, "Safe Mode" only disables extensions (such as FolderEnhancer), not apps (such as Cydia).
Piracy Detected?? I've purchased!
This can happen if you previously had a pirated copy of FolderEnhancer installed and did not properly remove it before installing the official copy.
In order to prevent losing your icon layout, it is recommended that you uninstall the pirated version and then install the official version without restarting in between. This can be done by tapping the "Continue Queuing" option when asked to confirm the removal of the pirated copy.
What do all the appearance options do?
See this page for examples.
Can I use a custom icon for each folder?
No.
While developing FolderEnhancer, I also wrote another extension, FolderThemer, that could do this; However, completing and maintaining said extension would require a lot of time, something which I do not have at present.
Can I use my own folder wallpaper image?
Yes. The recommended method is to use WinterBoard, and to create a theme structure as such:
/Library/Some.theme/Bundles/ com.apple.springboard/Place your custom image in this directory, and enable the theme with WinterBoard.
The filename and image resolution to use varies per device:
- iPhone 3G, 3GS, and other non-retina display devices:
- FEFolderBG.png (320x480)
- iPhone 4 and other retina display devices:
- FEFolderBG@2x.png (640x960)
- iPad:
- FEFolderBG~ipad.png (1024x1024)
- iPad (Alternative):
- FEFolderBG-Portrait~ipad.png (768x1024)
- FEFolderBG-Landscape~ipad.png (1024x768)
Note that if no FEFolderBG.png file is provided, FolderEnhancer will fallback to using the default SpringBoard folder background image (FolderSwitcherBG.png).
Can I use a different Iconoclasm layout inside a folder?
Currently, no.
I have discussed with the Iconoclasm developer about adding such a feature; he said that he will consider it.
Where is feature X from CategoriesSB?
While FolderEnhancer is designed after CategoriesSB, it does not have all the same options.
One reason for this is that some of the options are either already built into iOS 4 (badges), or are always on (tap/swipe to close).
Another reason is that some options are not feasible with FolderEnhancer or iOS 4. One such option is the ability to hide the dock; if the dock were hidden, it would not be possible to drag icons out of a folder.
