Capture a video using QuickTake

QuickTake is available on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, a new feature that allows you to record videos without switching from the image mode.

Hold down the shutter to take a video

When you open the Camera app, you will see the default image style. Press the shutter button to take a picture. Click the arrow to set options like Flash, Live Photos, Timer, and more.

If you want to capture QuickTake video, just press and hold the shutter button. * After that, release the button to stop recording.

Swipe left to lock recording

To continue recording video without having to hold down the button, drag the shutter button to the left, and then release it. When video recording is locked, the shutter button appears to the left. Then click on it to take a still photo while recording the video. When you are ready to stop recording, press the record button.

Swipe left to place snapshots

Pull the shutter button to the right, press it to take snapshots of photos, then release to stop.

* To capture customizable resolution videos, stereo sound, and sound boosting, switch to Video mode.

The redesigned "Camera" interface on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro shows you what's going on outside of your shot within the frame. This can help you decide if you need to reselect the shot frame or switch to a different camera on the iPhone to get a better picture.

When using a wide (1x) camera, the viewfinder also displays what appears in a very wide (0.5x) camera. Press the .5 button to switch to the ultra-wide camera. If you have an iPhone 11 Pro, you can also see the wide view (1x) scene outside the frame when using the telephoto camera (2x).

Taking pictures in low light with "night" mode

Night mode turns on automatically on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro when the camera detects low-light situations. The "Night" mode icon at the top of the screen turns yellow when the feature is active.

Depending on the degree of blurring of the scene, the iPhone may take a picture in "night" mode quickly, or it may take several seconds. A number appears next to the "Night" mode icon to indicate how long the device will take to shoot.

To try the "Night" mode photos for a longer period, press the "Night" mode icon. Next, use the slider above the shutter button to select "Max.", Which increases the capture time. When you take the picture, the slider becomes temporary that counts downward until the end of the exposure.

For best results, keep iPhone steady until shot is complete. You can also get more detail while reducing noise in very dark scenes, such as photographing the sky at night, by keeping the iPhone steady. Try placing the iPhone on a solid, secure surface or use a tripod to get the widest variety of colors possible in "night" mode.

Night mode available when using the 1x zoom camera.

How to play Live Photos and Flash

When iPhone is in Night mode, Live Photos and Flash are deactivated. You can manually turn on these features. Note that "Night" mode is deactivated when Live Photos or Flash is on.

To turn on Live Photos, tap the Live Photos button at the top of the screen. Press it again until the camera returns to “night” mode if you are still in a low-light location.

If “Flash” is set to “Automatic”, it will be turned on automatically in places with very low light. To turn on flash manually, press the arrow above Viewfinder. Click the flash button that appears below the viewfinder, then select "Play".

Make photos and videos more awesome

IOS 13's Photos app gets more control over editing. You can now adjust the density of all editing tools and filters. You can also edit videos with the same tools you use for health, such as crop, rotate, apply filters and more.
