PostgreSQL, often simply Postgres, is an object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) available for many platforms including Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is released under the PostgreSQL License, which is an MIT-style license, and is thus free and open source software.
Older existing postgres database wil be renamed, and a new one will be created. So before installing new package, you could dump your old database, to import it in new one.
This is the database server built for arm-apple-darwing. SystemV Semaphores and shared memory have been replaced by Posix ones by and apple patch.
The package will install PostgreSQL server, create postgres user, add switch button in preference loader to start/stop database.
This package could be used conjointly with j. Anrugas ios-lighttpd-php-mysql package from ios-webstack.tk/cydia source which provide php extensions pdo_pgsql.so and pgsql.so to be able to, for exemple , connect to the server with phpPgAdmin (Thanks j. Anrugas).
