The package uses launchctl to load and unload the smbd and nmbd daemons by listening on their ports. The advantage is that the daemons will be stopped when Samba is not being used.
This replaces the samba-controller package but you need to ssh to your device and set a samba password using smbpasswd before attempting to connect via Samba to the device.
This requires the Samba package, it will be installed automatically.
